Roughly two-thirds of insurance industry chief executive officers polled believe the role of their top financial officer will grow in significance over the next three years—beyond any other C-level position, a KPMG survey reveals.

CEOs want forward-looking CFO partners to chart the course for where they're going, not to document where they've been, according to KPMG consultants, who interpreted results of a recent CEO survey.

The result is part of a broader survey of 549 top executives in 11 industries across the globe, which formed the basis of a KPMG report titled “A View from the Top,” published late last year. (All of the firms surveyed had annual revenues of at least $500 million.)
