XL Catlin’s North America Property Insurance arm promoted two executives in the U.S. and Bermuda.

Xl CatlinIn the U.S., William Volz was promoted to Southern California regional underwriting leader in Los Angeles. In Bermuda, Mark Flanagan has been appointed chief property underwriter.

Volz was most recently XL Catlin’s vice president, property underwriter in New York, and he’ll be relocating to Los Angeles. In his new role, he’ll use his underwriting skill and property engineering background to help brokers and assist clients in the western United States as they insure their most complex property risk.

Volz has been with XL Catlin since 2009 and was an account and loss prevention engineer at FM Global before that.

Before joining XL Catlin in 2012, Flanagan’s career included positions with Jardine Lloyd Thompson and FM Global. In his new position, he’ll report to Patrick Tannock, CEO, Insurance, XL Bermuda Ltd. He will oversee the underwriting management of XL Catlin’s quota-share and excess property accounts serviced from Bermuda.

In a separate move, Joseph Metz has been named to lead the Kemper Specialty business for nonstandard auto lines in all states except California, where the company will continue to operate its Kemper Specialty California and Alliance United Business.

Both Patel and Metz will report to George Dufala, president of Kemper’s Property & Casualty arm, and they’ll be based in Chicago.

Previously, Patel was vice president of Personal Lines North America for AIG, where he handled $1.5 billion in portfolio products written through the Private Client Group and Lexington. He also has previous executive experience from stints at Farmers Insurance Group, OneBeacon Insurance and Liberty Mutual Group.

bigstock-Hired-15059873Arch Insurance Group named Vincent Kellaher as senior vice president, and he’ll handle oversight of Arch’s third-party administrator-managed claims.

Arch, a member of Arch Capital Group Ltd., said that Kellaher is a 250-year insurance industry veteran and accomplished executive. Previously, he’s had leadership roles that handled claims technical, operational and customer service strategies, among other specialty areas.

Before Arch, Kellaher was the vice president and chief claims officer at Carolina Casualty Insurance. Before that, he served 16 years at Zurich North America, most recently as senior vice president for Commercial Markets Claims.
