AIG has appointed Gavin Spencer as Head of Specialty, North America, effective immediately. He is taking on this expanded role alongside his current responsibilities as Head of Marine, North America.

Spencer joined AIG in 2024 as Head of Marine, North America. He brings more than 25 years of experience across the marine, cargo and logistics insurance sectors in leadership roles spanning underwriting, claims, broking and surveying across multiple countries and international markets, including Lloyd’s of London, the Americas, Asia and EMEA. Prior to joining AIG, he held strategic leadership and underwriting positions at Parsyl, Marsh and W E Cox Claims Group.

The Progressive Corporation announced that Pat Callahan intends to retire from his role as Personal Lines President after almost 24 years with the company. He will continue to serve in his current role until January 2027 and will advise on a part-time basis afterward.

Progressive said it will conduct an internal search for Callahan’s successor.

To support a smooth transition, Lori Niederst, currently CRM President, will move into the newly created role of Chief Personal Lines Officer, overseeing Personal Lines and CRM operations. Heather Day, currently General Manager, Customer Experience Strategy in the CRM organization, will move into the CRM President role in July.

HDI Global announced the appointment of Jill Salmon as Head of Cyber Underwriting at HDI Global US. Shebrings significant experience in cyber underwriting and a strong track record of building high-performing teams, developing innovative solutions, and driving sustainable, profitable growth in the U.S. market.

Most recently, Salmon served as Head of Professional Liability with Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance responsible for the Cyber and E&O portfolio. Prior to her 12 years spent at BHSI, she has held positions with Lexington, Catlin and CNA.

Sompo named Henry MacHale as Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of Strategy for its International Markets insurance business.

MacHale, who was previously Group Chief Strategy Officer at Aspen, will be based in London and report to Alessa Quane, Chief Executive Officer, International Markets.

Sompo’s International Markets comprises 22 countries across four regions: the United Kingdom (UK), Asia-Pacific (APAC), Continental Europe (including Turkey) and Brazil.
