Although InsurTech Root has talked more about embedded partners than agents in the years since announcing it would add an independent agency distribution channel, the car insurer has been working to build differentiated agent experiences.
The latest development: Today, Root announced the launch of its 24-hour agent appointment program, which company fired up in 2025.
The program lets insurance agents complete onboarding and start selling Root policies in as little as one day.

According to a statement released by Root, traditional insurance carrier onboarding can take weeks, slowing down agency growth. In contrast, the 24-hour agent appointment at Root Insurance “compresses this process into a single-day, fully digital experience, giving independent agents faster access to revenue opportunities,” the statement says.
Root noted that the company has appointed more than 15,000 agents since announcing that it would use agents to distribute some of its policies in 2021. Half of those agents—about 7,500—have been added as a result of the 24-hour appointment program, with roughly 2,400 of added in 2026 alone, Root said, indicating that the 24-hour appointment program, announced today, was actually launched in 2025.
Since the launch, Root Insurance has ramped up its agent network “by combining automation, digital contracting, and streamlined underwriting workflows,” the company said.
Independent agents can learn more or request an appointment by visiting joinroot.com/agents.
In order to fast-track their access to Root, qualified agents can request an appointment online and complete the accelerated vetting process within 24 hours.
“We built this program to give independent agents a true competitive advantage,” said Jill Kellett, Senior Vice President of Product at Root Insurance, in the media statement. “By prioritizing speed and simplicity, we’re helping agents access new revenue opportunities almost instantly.”
Root said the insurer continues to expand its independent agent channel as part of its broader strategy to modernize insurance distribution, also noting that low barriers to entry close the gap between scale and product access for small and mid-sized agencies.
Root agents have access to a specialized portal that delivers fast, accurate, and bindable quotes.
