Amica Mutual Insurance Company announced that Ted Murphy, senior executive vice president and chief operations officer, will retire at the end of 2025 after 45 years of service.
“Ted’s leadership has guided Amica through decades of progress,” said Amica President and CEO Ted Shallcross in a statement. “His influence will be felt for years to come, and we’re deeply grateful for his extraordinary contributions.”
Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Sam Palmisano will assume the role of COO. Amica said that Palmisano, who currently serves as SVP and chief human resources officer, brings a strategic, collaborative approach and a deep understanding of the company’s business.
In addition, Scott Boyd—currently a VP in Human Resources—will be promoted to CHRO on Jan. 1, 2026.
“As we begin a new chapter in Amica’s history, we want to congratulate Ted on his well-earned retirement and welcome Sam and Scott into their new roles,” Shallcross said. “Their experience and perspective will help us continue building on the strong foundation Ted helped create, and we look forward to the company’s continued success.”
