Researchers at Colorado State University continue to expect an above-average 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.
Along with the four named storms that have already occurred (Andrea, Barry, Chantal, and Dexter), the team is predicting an additional 12 named storms, 8 hurricanes, and 3 major (Category 3 or above) hurricanes.
Their confidence in the new estimated forecast is lower than normal.
Weather factors influencing this season are the continued warm waters in the Atlantic and the absence of El Nino.
