The new year welcomed new driver and auto insurance-related requirements in 2025.
Beginning January 1st, California’s minimum insurance limits increased to $30,000 for bodily injury and $60,000 per accident. The previous minimum limits were just half those amounts.
Also taking effect January 1st, Illinois began rolling out digital driver’s licenses.
Additionally, catalytic converter thefts will be tracked through information requirements at the metal recyclables dealer level.
New York’s stretch limousine companies are now required to be equipped with safety tools in case passengers need to escape the vehicle.
The companies will also face fines and a misdemeanor charge if a vehicle is still in use after being suspended for safety defects.
