Last year was eventful for weather in the United States, according to preliminary figures compiled by the National Weather Service.
There were 1,855 documented tornadoes with an estimated 82 of them classified as EF 2 or above.
Hail size up to 1.25 inches was recorded 2,557 times. There were a total of 5,365 hail incidents recorded in all.
Hailstones measured at larger than 1.25 up to 1.99 were estimated to have occurred 1,979 times. Those larger than 2 inches were recorded 829 times.
There were 12,237 instances of wind damage reported in 2024, with 486 instances recorded of gusts measured at more than 75 mph.
An estimated 16,701 reports of severe wind were recorded in the U.S. last year.
