Egan brings over 25 years of insurance industry experience to SiriusPoint, most recently as the chief executive of Royal Sun Alliance (RSA) UK & International. He has held senior positions at a number of companies including Aviva, Zurich Financial Services, Brit Insurance and Towergate Broking.

“The board of directors has concluded a rigorous search, and we are thrilled to welcome Scott to SiriusPoint. Scott’s leadership qualities and experience are well-suited to SiriusPoint and the opportunities ahead,” commented Sharon Ludlow, interim chair of the board of directors.

“Scott brings extensive expertise of leading businesses through transformation and growth and has a successful track record in risk and financial management. The board looks forward to working with Scott and the management team to shape our business and create sustainable value for our partners and investors,” said Ludlow.

“The board and I would like to thank Dan Malloy for his ongoing leadership as interim CEO,” she added. “We are grateful for Dan’s support during this period of transition, where he has worked with our management team to ensure the continued execution of our strategy and success of our business.”

Malloy became interim CEO of SiriusPoint in May when the company announced that Siddhartha (Sid) Sankaran, chairman and CEO, resigned from the company to pursue other opportunities.

AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has promoted Dan Draper to the role of group chief underwriting officer. He will report to President and CEO Albert Benchimol and join the company’s executive committee.

In his new role, Draper will guide the centralization of the company’s underwriting analytics and support functions into a single division that he will oversee. He also will partner with the underwriting divisions on portfolio strategy and governance, including exposure management, as well as introducing greater innovation into products and services delivered to existing and new customer segments.

Draper previously served for more than two years as group head of Underwriting at AXIS. He’s held a number of leadership roles at AXIS over the years, including group chief actuary, chief risk analytics officer and Insurance segment chief risk officer. He left the company in 2019 for a stint as group chief risk and actuarial officer at VIBE before returning to AXIS a year later. He also has held managerial positions at the Financial Services Authority, XL Capital and EY.

Benchimol said that Draper is a “proven leader within AXIS who has an established track record of partnering with the business to drive consistent improvement in portfolio quality and underwriting performance over the past several years.” He noted that the move “is all part of our broader strategy to advance our leadership in specialty, grow profitably with our partners, and deliver increased value to both our customers and shareholders.”
