Cover Genius, the InsurTech for embedded insurance, has appointed Gloria Basem as chief people officer (CPO). She will oversee talent acquisition, employee experience, growth, learning, DEI, career development and compensation.

Basem most recently served as CPO for Stash, a fintech company. She has also served as CPO at MediaMath, a global adtech firm, New Avon, Planned Parenthood of New York City and the CDM Group.

Cover Genius has also hired Daniel Chavenson as VP of Strategy & Corporate Development. With more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, Chavenson will be responsible for the evaluation and execution of growth opportunities for Cover Genius globally. He joins Cover Genius from Embroker, where he spent four years overseeing external strategic relationships and leading insurance strategy and operations. Prior to that, he spent several years in leadership positions at AXIS Capital and Zurich Insurance.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has named Mike Martin as global head of Property, reporting directly to Shanil Williams, chief underwriting officer Corporate.

Martin joins AGCS from AIG and will succeed Maria Grace, who left AGCS in late 2021. He will be based in AGCS’s Atlanta office.

Martin has over 35 years of experience in international property underwriting, most recently as chief underwriting officer – U.S. Retail Property at AIG. Prior to that he held various insurance industry executive roles at Velocity Risk Underwriters, Liberty Mutual, XL and Industrial Risk Insurers.

AGCS also confirmed the promotion of Srdjan Todorovic as head of Global Political Violence & Hostile Environment Solutions, based in London. Todorovic succeeds Björn Reußwig, who leaves AGCS to pursue interests outside of Allianz from July 1.

Alliant Insurance Services has announced that Michael Cusack has been promoted to executive vice president, Alliant Specialty. In this role, Cusack will be responsible for the operational, financial and strategic growth initiatives for all of Alliant’s 13 specialty groups.

Cusack takes over the role from Peter Arkley, who was recently promoted to the newly created position of president of Alliant Retail Property & Casualty.

Cusack joined Alliant in 2011 and played a pivotal role in the growth and success of the Alliant Construction business, building what is now the largest construction operation in the country. In 2017, Cusack was promoted to Co-COO of Alliant Specialty, where he oversaw operations for 13 specialty industries.
