American Family Insurance group announced it is raising its minimum hourly wage to $23 per hour—its second increase in two years.

The wage increase, which will take effect in July, will result in raises for more than 2,000 of the 13,200 employees who work at American Family group companies, which include:

  • American Family Insurance, based in Madison, Wis.
  • Homesite Group, Boston, Mass.
  • The General, Nashville, Tenn.
  • Main Street America Insurance, Jacksonville, Fla.
  • CONNECT powered by American Family Insurance, DePere, Wis.

“American Family strives to be an employer of choice, and compensation is one way to achieve that by remaining competitive in a tight job market,” said Tracy Schweitzer, American Family chief people officer. “This increase recognizes the importance of having top talent to provide exceptional service to our customers, while helping employees develop successful careers here.”

As part of its commitment to employee well-being, the group offers comprehensive benefits that also include student loan repayment assistance, flexible work arrangements, and paid-leave programs such as parental, caregiver and volunteer time. American Family said these benefits have been expanded during the pandemic to include free counseling sessions and a new physical and mental wellness platform through the employee assistance program, as well as increased support and resources for working parents and caregivers.
