InsurTech NY will be holding what it is billing as the first dedicated virtual job fair and networking event for InsurTech startups and the insurance industry.

Scheduled for Oct. 29, 2020, the event is billed as a way to help promote jobs during a period of record unemployment and an ongoing pandemic.

“In an environment of record unemployment, associations and technology-based communities need to step up and provide solutions,” said David Gritz, Managing Director of InsurTech NY, the largest InsurTech community in the New York metro area. “Hosting a virtual expo for InsurTechs is the most effective and safe way to match growing InsurTechs with prospective co-founders, executives, advisors, and board members.”

InsurTech NY is known for holding in-person and virtual events that have attracted startups, carriers, investors and others. But then came the pandemic, which has limited in-person gatherings. InsurTech NY said its research determined there are more than 1,500 advertised open positions at InsurTechs at the Series-A or later funding stages. Job openings range from senior underwriting leaders to data scientists to digital marketing specialists. Companies are also seeking advisors and board members, InsurTech NY said.

The Matchmaking Expo will be held virtually on a networking platform that creates a three-dimensional virtual environment where attendees can visit booths and dynamically join video conversations with exhibitors. InsurTechs participating in the Expo will be able to host a virtual booth and dedicated interviewing table to meet prospective new hires, advisors, or board members.

The program will be held in partnership with a number of insurance associations and educational institutions including NAAIA New York, Advisen, Quesnay, St. John’s University, and Connecticut Innovations.
