Willis Towers Watson appointed a new senior director within its Insurance Consulting and Technology business. Lloyd’s of London created a new position – head U.S. head of Claims – stemming from its Future at Lloyd’s modernization strategy.


Willis Towers Watson appointed Jeff Van Kley as senior director within its Insurance Consulting and Technology business.

In this role, Van Kley will be responsible for driving revenue and fostering client relationships. He will also contribute to the development of insurance product and service offerings.

Based in Chicago, Van Kley will report to Klayton Southwood, senior director, Property & Casualty (P&C) West Division leader.

Van Kley joins from Carrick Holdings where he served as executive vice president and chief actuary. Previously he held leadership positions at Sunpoint Insurance Services and The Doctors Company. Van Kley started his career at CNA Insurance Companies where he spent over 25 years holding various roles, including vice president and actuary for Healthcare Pricing.


Lloyd’s of London has named Carey Bond as U.S. head of Claims, a newly created role that stems from the Future at Lloyd’s strategy.

Based in Greenville, South Carolina, he’ll be responsible for overseeing U.S. claims processing across the Lloyd’s market with a goal of improving outcomes and customer experience. His immediate priority will be to provide support for Lloyd’s customers through the hurricane season. He will also collaborate with London brokers and underwriters on claim services for policyholders in the U.S., Lloyd’s largest market

Bond brings two decades of claims management experience at several insurance companies. He joins Lloyd’s from Canal Insurance Co., where he has served as Claims team leader since 2017. Prior to that, he was the director of Claims at Access Corporate Services and served as Corporate Auto Property Damage Manager at American Independent Companies. He also previously served as a regional director at Nationwide Insurance, and a vice president of claims at Travelers.

In his new role, Bond will report to Hank Watkins, regional director and president of Lloyd’s, Americas, and Phil Godwin, Lloyd’s head of Claims in London.
