Markel Corporation will be holding its 2020 annual meeting virtually, with only company officers and other personnel in physical attendance at the session.
The specialty insurer said it made the change in response to coronavirus safety concerns. This year’s gathering will be May 11, starting at 4:30 p.m. at its Glen Allan, Va. Headquarters. While company officers and other vital staff will be there physically, shareholders and everyone else will be limited to listening over the internet.
Markel said it will release details separately on how interested shareholders and others can participate in the company’s annual meeting virtually.
The process for voting shares at the 2020 Annual Meeting of Shareholders remains the same, as detailed in the previously distributed Notice of Availability of Proxy Materials for the 2020 Annual Meeting of Shareholders sent to the Company’s shareholders of record as of March 3, 2020.
