A veteran of Beazley, Gen Re and Zurich is joining AXA XL as its first-ever global chief underwriting officer for cyber.
Elizabeth (Libby) Benet will focus on helping to manage AXA XL’s cyber risk portfolio and report to Nancy Bewlay, chief underwriting officer, Long Tail Risk.
In prepared remarks, Bewlay explained that the new position is meant to help better counter cyber threats that “grow more sophisticated, malicious and hard to detect every day.”
Bewlay added that Benet will accomplish this by helping the company “closely monitor our cyber risk portfolio and exposure from an aggregated global product view.”
Most recently, Benet ran her own consulting business, where she helped insurance company clients develop and launch new insurance products and also consulted on the set-up of underwriting and claims systems and feedback on reinsurance purchasing.
