A former Swiss Re executive is joining a unit of Liberty Mutual in a leadership role.
Susan Burke will be Liberty Mutual Re’s new vice president and director of Assumed Reinsurance in the division’s Casualty Treaty Department.
Burke is based in Liberty Mutual Re’s Stamford, Conn. Office and reports to its head of U.S. Casualty, Thomas Greene. Her responsibilities in the new role: Producing, underwriting and servicing a portfolio of casualty treaty reinsurance accounts.
Previously, Burke was in the reinsurance unit of Swiss Re, where she most recently served as Senior Treaty Underwriter. Before that, she was Vice President and Claims Expert. She brings international experience to LM Re, through her work as Claims Manager and Resident U.S. Counsel at the Gerling Group in Germany.
