CSAA Insurance Group promoted two executives to handle responsibilities involving information and information security. Liberty Mutual Re appointed a senior underwriter and product leader for Marine & Energy. A division of AXIS Capital Holdings hired an executive to lead expanded operations in Australia.

AAA Insurer CSAA Insurance Group promoted two executives to the roles of chief information officer and chief information security officer, respectively.

Paul Acevedo is now CSAA’s vice president and chief information officer. He first joined the insurer in 2011 and has served in executive leadership roles for digital, data, telematics and business architecture. Previously, he held product and marketing leadership positions at startup and established technology companies – including BMC Software, ITM Software, Sun Microsystems and Terraspring – developing a range of enterprise software and cloud infrastructure products and services.

In his new role, Acevedo is a member of the organization’s executive leadership team and leads CSAA’s technology organization, responsible for consumer- and agent-facing digital experiences, data and analytics platforms, core application systems (policy, claims, financial and HR), information security and foundational infrastructure.

Marlys Rodgers, as CSAA’s new chief information security officer, will report to Acevedo and handle designing and executing the company’s IT security strategy to keep internal and customer data secure.

Rodgers will drive security strategy as well as day-to-day security operations. She and her team will be charged with maintaining and monitoring security; mitigating risks through policies, education, communication, audits and compliance standards; and guiding the IT governance and controls functions. She’ll be based in the company’s Glendale, Ariz., office.

Previously, Rodgers was at PayPal, where she was head of Technology Oversight and Risk and Compliance Officer since 2017. She helped establish PayPal’s enterprise technology framework, policy, controls, monitoring and risk assessment for 16-plus business units. Before PayPal, Rodgers held a variety of roles in technology and risk with escalating responsibilities at American Express spanning 17 years.

Before LM Re, Voges worked for AXA ART Insurance as senior reinsurance specialist for nearly two years, where he organized the reinsurance cover for art insurance. Before that, he was at Liberty Specialty Markets as a reinsurance underwriter for over nine years, where he gained a wealth of expertise across multiple classes in the reinsurance market.

Voges will report to Bernd Burelbach, underwriting manager, Liberty Mutual Re, Cologne. He will be responsible for the underwriting and strategy of the LMR marine and energy reinsurance book.
