A former Pembroke Managing Agency executive joined Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance to run its new Transactional Liability Insurance operations in Asia and the Middle East. Liberty Mutual appointed a new chief of staff for its Global Risk Solutions division. TigerRisk Partners brought on a new partner.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has hired a new executive to run its freshly-launched Transactional Liability Insurance operations in Asia and the Middle East.

Steven Harwood is BHSI’s Head of Transactional Liability in AME, based at the company’s Hong Kong office. The new division is focusing primarily on providing Representations and Warranties Insurance as well as Tax Liability Insurance across AME. The company already provides Transactional Liability coverage from offices in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.

Harwood was most recently at Pembroke Managing Agency Underwriting at Lloyd’s Japan, where he was Senior Underwriter & Solicitor, M&A Insurance. Before that, he was Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, and Divisional Director (London and Tokyo) at Willis Faber & Dumas Ltd, a Lloyd’s Reinsurance Broker.

Liberty Mutual appointed Janelle Edem as chief of staff, Global Risk Solutions – Liberty Mutual’s global commercial and specialty lines insurer and reinsurer.

Edemm, in her new role, will organize, prioritize and move forward critical strategic issues to facilitate efficient decision making for GRS’ executive office. She’ll report to GRS president Dennis Langwell.

Previously, Edem served as general manager, UPS Distribution and Service, for GRS’ National Insurance operation Administration. Edem has also been active in Liberty Mutual’s Employee Resource Groups, which bring employees together while fostering an inclusive culture, enhancing personal development and supporting broader business objectives. She served as the first Co-Executive Sponsor of the Liberty Employees of African Descent and Allies ERG, and currently co-chairs the Careers subcommittee of the WE@Liberty + Allies ERG, which helps empower women and allies through programing and mentorship programs.

TigerRisk Partners LLC, hired Kevin Feldman as a new partner.

Wade Gulbransen, TigerRisk’s global head of Reinsurance, said in prepared remarks that Feldman will serve West Coast Clients but also expand the company’s client base. He’ll be situated in Orange County, CA.

Feldman was most recently at Guy Carpenter as a managing director, and had been there since John B. Collins, where he was an account representative, was absorbed by the company.
