Progressive plans to hire more than 10,000 people through 2019 to help propel rapid growth. The Ohio-based property/casualty insurer said it wants to fill analyst, IT, corporate, customer care, claims, marketing, legal, sales and bilingual Spanish customer service/sales positions.

“This is the largest hiring forecast in Progressive’s history,” Chief Human Resources Officer Lori Niederst said in prepared remarks. “We are excited to add hardworking talent to our team who are interested in a career with Progressive. For decades, we’ve been developing people who started in jobs like these into successful business athletes who rise to our leadership ranks. ”

Niederst noted that Tricia Griffith, Progressive’s president and CEO since July 2016, started as a claims representative at the Ohio-based company (in 1988), and she herself began as an analyst.

Progessive said that over half of the jobs are based at larger Progressive campuses across the United States, while others will be at Progressive field claims offices in more than 250 locations. Some of the new hires will involve work-from-home positions.

More than 1,000 positions will be filled in Austin, Texas, with another 2,000 in Cleveland; 1,100 in Colorado Springs, CO; 375 in Phoenix, Ariz.; 380 in Sacramento, Calif.; and 1,500 in Tampa, Fla.

Progressive noted it has grown more than 50 percent in the last three years to $30 billion in revenue for 2018. The insurer provides coverage for personal auto, commercial auto, trucks, motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles and homes.
