A veteran of Markel and Beazley is joining AXIS Insurance as a senior cyber underwriter.

Andrew Maher will be based in London and report to Dan Trueman, global head of cyber and technology at AXIS.

Trueman said in prepared remarks that Maher “is an important edition” to AXIS’ newly expanded global cyber and techology team. He noted that AXIS’ new hire “is a recognized expert in the cyber insurance market and has a strong reputation and key relationships with both brokers and clients.”

Previously, Maher was at Markel, where he was a senior cyber underwriter for two years. He began his career at Beazley, where he held several underwriting roles, including working within the company’s information security and Beazley Breach Response teams.

AXIS Insurance is the insurance business segment of AXIS Capital Holdings, a Bermuda-based global provider of specialty lines insurance and treaty reinsurance.
