CNA has become the latest property/casualty insurer to join a multi-industry CEO initiative focused on making businesses more diverse and inclusive.

Dino Robusto, CNA’s chairman and chief executive officer, signed onto the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion initiative. More than 270 global company CEOs and executives have joined, with a pledge to cultivate a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

On the property/casualty insurance side, the CEOs of AIG, Erie Insurance, The Hartford, Nationwide, Swiss Re and XL Catlin are already part of the coalition, according to its web site.

Robusto, in prepared remarks, said that diversity and inclusion “doesn’t just create great results for our business, it also improves our culture, enhances employee engagement and makes CNA an employer of choice – for everyone.”

In March, CNA disclosed it created the position of chief diversity officer and appointed former Chubb executive Joyce Trimuel to fill the slot. She’s also a senior vice president.

The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion is led by a steering committee of CEOs and leaders from Accenture, BCG, Deloitte US, The Executive Leadership Council, EY, General Atlantic, KPMG, New York Life, Procter & Gamble, and PwC. The coalition represents nearly 70 industries, all 50 U.S. states, and millions of employees globally
