XL Catlin said it is adding an employment practices liability option to its professional liability insurance product for architects, engineers and other U.S. design professionals or businesses.
The new coverage, with capacity of up to $1 million, will be available under XL Catlin’s design professional liability form, with the formal name “Employment Practices Liability for Design Professionals Coverage.” It will have dedicated EPL limits separate from design professional liability limits and include:
- Broad definition of insured person.
- Broad definition of Employment Practice Wrongful Act.
- Definition of Loss including back and front pay, pre- and post-judgment interest, multiplied damages and attorney fees.
- Third-party coverage for claims from non-employees.
The added coverage also includes loss prevention services such as a risk management website, plus a loss prevention hotline with access to employment legal expertise that can address issues before they become a problem.
XL Catlin has beefed up its professional liability insurance for design businesses in other ways. Recently, it added cyber insurance as an optional coverage.
