RLI Corp. announced Monday that Robert P. Restrepo Jr. has been appointed to its board of directors, effective July 1, 2016.

Restrepo led State Auto Insurance Cos. in Columbus, Ohio, as chairman, chief executive officer and president, and formerly served as senior vice president of Insurance Operations for Main Street America Group in Jacksonville, Fla.
A veteran of the industry with more than 35 years of insurance industry experience, Restrepo also held leadership positions at Allmerica Financial, Travelers Property & Casualty and Aetna Life & Casualty.
In welcoming him to RLI board, RLI Corp. Chairman and CEO Jonathan E. Michael highlighted Restrepo’s broad finance and risk management experience, his strong leadership and extensive property/casualty background.
Both Michael and Restrepo have served as past chairs of the Property Casualty Insurance Association of America—Michael in 2013 and Restrepo in 2014.
At RLI, Restrepo’s term will expire at the next shareholders’ meeting in May 2017, at which time he will stand for re-election.
