Manny Rios, CEO of American Modern Insurance Group, has left the company.
The Ohio-based specialty insurer (and Munich Re subsidiary) said in a prepared statement that Rios is leaving for personal reasons, without further elaboration. Tony Kucinski, president and CEO of Munich Reinsurance America, and American Modern’s chairman, has taken on the role of interim leader.
American Modern’s executive council will report directly to Kuczinski during this period, according to the announcement.
Rios had been with American Modern since 2011. Through his career, he has had executive positions at Allstate, Homesite Insurance and the United Services Auto Association. In announcing Rios’ departure, American Modern credited him with leading the carrier through a number of new strategic business initiatives now underway.
In a recent interview with Carrier Management, Rios described his role in leading innovation at American Modern as “inspiring people to stay uncomfortable with the status quo, encouraging them to always be in student mode and asking them to question everything.”
Cincinnati-based American Modern handles specialty coverage for residential properties, and for consumers in the recreational market, including owners of boats, personal watercraft, classic cars, motorcycles, ATV’s and snowmobiles.
