RSA Insurance Group Plc hired a second Zurich Insurance Group AG executive to run its U.K. and European units, said two people with knowledge of the matter.

Steve Lewis, chief executive officer of Zurich’s general insurance business in the U.K., will replace Adrian Brown, CEO of RSA’s U.K. and western Europe operation, who resigned in March, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly.

Lewis, 45, resigned today after 26 years with Zurich, Alex Jones, a spokesman for the company in London, said by telephone. An RSA spokeswoman declined to comment on the appointment. Lewis didn’t immediately return a call to his office at Zurich.

Lewis will be the second Zurich executive to join RSA since former Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc CEO Stephen Hester took over in February. In March, Hester hired Ken Norgrove, the former CEO of Zurich General Insurance Ireland, to head up the Irish unit, which had been hit by an accounting scandal.

Brown, who had run RSA’s U.K. and Western European business since 2008, is leaving to become chairman of underwriting and distribution at U.S. broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
