Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance announced Tuesday that it has named James O. Roser as chief information officer.
Roser has an extensive record of leadership in the business technology arena, most recently as IT head of global insurance, global reinsurance and associated infrastructure at Markel Inc.
“Jamie brings extensive experience and technology acumen to our efforts to utilize technology to maximize value and optimize results for our operations, our customers and our brokers,” says Todd Link, senior vice president and chief operating officer at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.
Roser was previously vice president at Alterra Capital, which Markel acquired earlier this year. Before that, he spent nearly 10 years at Travelers in various leadership roles, including vice president of information systems, CIO for bond and financial products business, and commercial insurance program office/merger integration lead. He also worked in the insurance and financial services practice at Accenture, the global technology and business process consultancy.
Roser earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Colgate University and a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is based in the Boston office of Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.
