Bolstering its resources to provide risk management consulting services to insurance and reinsurance carriers, Hanover Stone Partners recently announced that Winifred Baker, a former executive of Lloyd’s USA, joined the firm.

Baker, who will have the title senior risk advisor–ERM, brings more than 30 years of insurance industry leadership and strategic consulting experience to Hanover Stone Partners. For 10 years, she was president and director, Lloyd’s America, Inc.

Subsequently, she joined Beekman Advisory Group, providing a wide range of strategic consulting services to insurance and reinsurance companies.

Prior to her role at Lloyd’s, she held senior positions with Minet, Inc. and Continental Corporation, where she began her career in 1976. Rising through the ranks over 20 years, she ultimately became president and chief underwriting officer of Continental Reinsurance Corporation.

Hanover Stone Partners, which describes itself as a “network of recognized and accomplished risk management advisors and specialized risk management services firms,” also said that Fred Travis, formerly of Anheuser-Busch Companies, and Craig Nelson, an insurance brokerage veteran, joined the firm.

Travis was with Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc. for 25 years, including the last 14 years as director, Corporate Safety & Risk Management. In this capacity, he was responsible for the global insurance, loss control, claims and risk management functions, including a captive, providing workers’ compensation insurance for more than 200 independent distributors. In 2006, he formed Risk Management Consulting, LLC, providing ERM, risk control and analysis for numerous clients in the private and public sectors as well as nonprofits.

He is a former officer and director of the St. Louis Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society.

Nelson has 25 years of experience that encompasses a wide range of senior positions in insurance brokerage and risk consulting. Over the course of his career, in addition to starting and managing his own risk management services firm, he held leadership positions with Aon Risk Services, Lockton Companies, Beecher Carlson Insurance Services, LLC, and Towers Watson. At Towers Watson, he led the development of the insurance brokerage practice and created a unique property risk optimization solution.
