Yahoo Chairman Alfred Amoroso is joining what has become a mass exodus from the Internet company’s boardroom.
The departure announced Thursday will make Amoroso the eighth member of Yahoo’s board to leave since early last year. He plans to give up his seat when Yahoo Inc. holds its annual shareholders meeting on June 25. His resignation as chairman is effective immediately.
Maynard Webb. Jr. will be interim chairman.
Amoroso and Webb joined Yahoo’s board 14 months ago when four longtime directors stepped down under shareholder pressure.
Just three months later, Amoroso was named Yahoo’s chairman when the company parted ways with former CEO Scott Thompson.
After Amoroso became chairman, Yahoo’s board hired long-time Google executive Marissa Mayer to become its CEO.
