When Carrier Management asked Zurich’s chief underwriting officer in North America to describe his leadership style, he relied on the input of his team to answer the question.

“We do upward feedback at Zurich, so we ask our teams what our strengths are and what our weaknesses are,” Geno Fernandez said, noting that his team views him as “a connector.” Explaining what that means, he said, “I take ideas from different sources—often from different functions like claims, underwriting, risk engineering, finance—and I bring people together to solve problems.”
