With a climate of uncertainty surrounding the political scene in the United States, particularly with respect to tax reforms promised by the new administration, insurance industry merger and acquisitions are being affected, experts said recently.

But while a U.S. M&A adviser described a chilling “Trump era” impact on insurance deals, an expert on Asia deals suggested that an already beckoning environment conducive to Western acquisitions by buyers from emerging markets like China is becoming even more attractive.
