Four individuals were arrested following an investigation into an alleged automobile insurance fraud scheme in Iberia Parish, according to a recent announcement by the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit (IFAT).
The investigation began after a criminal referral from Timber Creek Insurance Services and the Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Division regarding allegations of fraudulent insurance claims by the four suspects.
The investigation determined false statements were made during the insurance claims process following a 2025 crash involving a Pelican Waste & Debris garbage truck.
Had the claims been successful, the suspects could have collectively received approximately $4,000,000 in fraudulent compensation.
Between April 30 and May 1, 2026, investigators obtained arrest warrants for all four suspects for charges related to automobile insurance fraud, a felony. The suspects were later apprehended or turned themselves in and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
