Chubb Ltd. announced that Cheryl Krauss has been appointed senior vice president, Chubb Group and chief communications officer, effective June 6.

She will be responsible for Chubb’s corporate communications and marketing functions globally. In addition, the investor relations function will report jointly to Krauss and Peter Enns, executive vice president, Chubb Group and chief financial officer. Krauss will report to Evan G. Greenberg, chairman and chief executive officer.

Krauss succeeds Patrick McGovern, who will assume an interim role providing executive communications and speechwriting support to the CEO.

Krauss was formerly chief communications officer of global investment management firm Barings. Prior to that, she held senior global communication roles at BNY Mellon and worked at Bain & Company as worldwide senior director, Public Relations.

The Hartford promoted David DeSilva to head of Construction for Middle and Large Commercial. Based in Washington, D.C., he reports to Gretchen Thompson, head of Inland Marine, Excess Solutions and Complex Liability Solutions, and Media, Arts & Entertainment.

DeSilva joined The Hartford in 2010 as an underwriter in Small Commercial before joining Middle Market to expand his segment knowledge and build his underwriting capabilities. Most recently, as regional vice president for The Hartford’s Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and North Central regions, he oversaw a successful guaranteed cost and loss sensitive construction portfolio, as well as an effective wrap-up program that included workers compensation, general liability and excess lines of coverage for all enrolled contractors and subcontractors.
