On Friday, Mt. Logan Re, Ltd. announced the appointment of David Whiting to the position of Chief Underwriting Officer.

Mt. Logan Re, Ltd. is Everest Re Group Ltd.’s special purpose reinsurer formed in January 2013 to provide collateralized capacity to the worldwide property catastrophe reinsurance market.

Whiting, with 28 years of reinsurance underwriting experience, was most recently employed by Torus Insurance (Bermuda), Ltd. He previously held senior positions at Swiss Re, Centre Re, Zurich Insurance Group and the Hartford Insurance Group.

Whiting is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, the Society of Property and Casualty Underwriters, and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
