As drone technology and potential applications continue to expand, corporate leaders around the world are facing a difficult question: How can drones be used to grow their businesses without harming customers and bystanders?

Executive Summary

The question has no easy answer. Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been working to analyze the risks, educate the public, and develop effective ways to regulate the industry.

Some exceptions have been granted under existing laws for companies to use drones. Such exceptions have been granted with respect to film and television, land surveys, and package delivery tests.
