Andrew McMellin is president of Markel International. He joined Markel in January 2022 as managing director, Wholesale, and was promoted to president, International, in April 2025. McMellin has more than 35 years of experience in specialty insurance, including chief executive roles at Pioneer Underwriters and XL Catlin in London and the United States. In addition to holding chief underwriting officer and global casualty product roles, he also worked at Amlin and Willis earlier in his career.
