Overview

This annual report, published in September of 2021, is submitted by the Federal Insurance Office, U.S. Department of the Treasury, authored pursuant to Title V of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act

Topical issues are addressed, starting on page 56, and offer an insightful overview of all that the industry faced in 2020 – including remote work, insurer relief, business interruption, business interruption, pandemic risk insurance, climate risk and more.

The Report concludes that, in the coming year, the Federal Insurance Office will continue to address climate-related financial risks, the affordability and availability of insurance products for traditionally underserved communities and consumers, the role of the insurance industry in helping to improve our nation’s cybersecurity, and other relevant developments affecting the U.S. insurance industry, policyholders, and consumers.
