Workplace Sexual Harassment: Are Employers Actually Responding?

Overview

The results of this survey show that while more employees are now likely to report harassment in 2018 than in the past, only 32% report that their employers are responding with new ways to prevent and address harassment in the workplace.

This report includes the responses from data collected online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of the American Psychological Association between February 15 and March 1, 2018, among a nationally representative sample of 1,512 adults age 18 and older who reside in the U.S. and were either employed full time, part time or self-employed.

To change individual behavior and workplace culture, psychologists recommend a comprehensive approach that incorporates ongoing training, clear policies and leadership support of a civil and respectful organizational culture. An outline is included at the conclusion of this report.
