Executives On The Move at XL Group, Everest Re and QBE North America

XL Group has a new chief enterprise risk officer. Everest Re Group appointed a seasoned executive to head its Everest Insurance Arm. QBE North America named a new chief operating officer.

XL Group Ltd. appointed Fielding (Fid) Norton as its new group chief enterprise risk officer. He replaces Jacob Rosengarten, who retired on Dec. 31, 2017.

Previously, Norton was deputy chief enterprise risk officer. His promotion is subject to Bermuda immigration approval.

Norton joined XL in 2010. Before that, he was chief risk officer for Ironshore, having previously served in a variety of risk management leadership roles.

Rosengarten joined XL in 2008, and developed and oversaw its enterprise risk management framework and related processes. Rosengarten will continue with the company part-time, working as an advisor to Stephen Robb, XL’s chief financial officer.

Jonathan Zaffino is the new president and CEO of Everest Re Group’s Everest Insurance division.

Zaffino has been with the Bermuda-based reinsurer and insurer since 2015, most recently as president of the North America Insurance division. In his new role, he’ll handle planning and executing on the worldwide insurance division’s business strategies. As well, he’ll take on oversight of the newly-formed Everest Insurance Company of Ireland and the Everest Lloyd’s Syndicate operations.

Dominic Addesso, president and CEO of Everest Re Group Ltd., said that Zaffino’s “strong leadership capability and strategic vision make him the ideal candidate for leading the continued build of Everest’s global insurance brand.”

QBE North America said it appointed Daniel Franzetti as chief operating officer.

Franzetti will continue as QBE North America chief claims officer, but now also oversee all North American operations, systems, architecture, communications and branding.

As well, he’ll remain a member of the QBE North America Executive Management Board, and report to QBE North America CEO Russell Johnston. Franzetti succeeds Bob James in the chief operating officer slot.

Previously, Franzetti was chief claims officer for Zurich Australia Insurance Ltd., and senior vice president leading Zurich’s Claims Technical Shared Services in North America
