Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has appointed several claims executives to new roles within its North American region:
Rob Romeo has been named head of Claims, North America. He has more than 20 years of industry experience and was previously senior vice president, U.S. Healthcare & Casualty Claims at BHSI. Romeo joined BHSI in 2013 as vice president, Healthcare & Casualty Claims, U.S., and has been instrumental in building BHSI’s global claims handling approach.
Andy Barberis has been named head of Healthcare & Casualty Claims for the U.S. and will oversee global surety claims as well. He joined BHSI in 2021 as senior vice president, U.S. Claims. He has more than 30 years of commercial lines claims experience, including as an insurance defense and coverage attorney.
Amanda Sorsak has been named head of First Party Claims, Canada. She joined BHSI in 2015 as vice president, Property, Energy & Marine Claims, and has held increasingly senior positions throughout her nearly 20-year industry career.
Paul Emerson has been named head of Third Party Claims, Canada. He joined BHSI in 2015 as vice president, Liability Claims, and has more than 20 years of experience handling commercial liability claims and litigation defense.

Specialty re/insurer Canopius Group announced the appointment of Tracey Corrigan to the role of group head of Change.
She will be based in London and report to Group COO Kate Roy.
Corrigan brings more than 30 years of experience in operations management and business modernization to Canopius. She joins from QBE, where she held the position of business transformation leader. Prior to this she was at AIG, where since 1992 she held several key positions, most recently commercial operations executive.
“With substantial growth opportunities groupwide and with many change projects needed to capitalize on that, it is key to expand our operational leadership capability to oversee the entire process of how we change as a business,” said Roy.
She said that Corrigan’s “international experience as a transformation leader, combined with a proven track record of successfully developing and executing operational strategies globally and regionally, made her the ideal candidate.”

Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation has named Paul Measley as its chief claims officer, effective immediately. He is responsible for the claims organization within Plymouth Rock’s Independent Agency business.
Measley joins Plymouth Rock from GEICO, where he spent nearly 30 years in various leadership roles, largely within the claims organization. Most recently, he had responsibility for developing and leading aspects of GEICO’s corporate claims strategy, including digital claims, systems, first notice of loss, personal injury protection, subrogation, training and auditing. Prior to that role, he oversaw several large claims offices for GEICO across the southwestern U.S.

Charles Symington has been appointed to the role of executive vice president at the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big I), effective Oct. 1.
Symington joined the Big I in 2004 on the government affairs staff. Since 2016, he has served as senior vice president for external, industry and government affairs. He was named the successor to current president and CEO Bob Rusbuldt, who will retire on Aug. 31, 2023.
The Big I said Symington’s new title is an interim role as he prepares to take over as the top executive on Sept. 1, 2023.
As executive vice president, Symington will play an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the national association and in various initiatives with the Big I state associations and other affiliate organizations. He will also continue to serve on the Big I Management Operating Committee, which advises the president and CEO on general oversight and administration of the association.
