Executives on the Move at Chubb, Everest Re and Guy Carpenter

Chubb Limited has appointed John Thompson as vice president, Chubb Group and division president of International Personal Lines, effective June 1.

In his new role, he will be responsible for leading Chubb’s division that provides a broad range of traditional and specialty personal lines insurance products to targeted customer segments. He will report to Juan Luis Ortega, executive vice president, Chubb Group and president, Overseas General Insurance.

Thompson currently serves as division president, International A&H. He joined the company, then named ACE, in 2012 as SVP and chief underwriting officer for International Personal Lines, playing a leading role in advancing the company’s global consumer product and geographic diversification strategy with a focus on auto, residential and high-net-worth portfolios.

Thompson will succeed Darryl Page, vice president, Chubb Group, who is retiring following a 10-year career with the company. Page will remain with Chubb through July 1 and will work with Thompson to ensure a smooth transition.

Daniela Hernandez, who is succeeding Thompson as president of International A&H, currently leads Chubb’s Life and A&H business in Chile, including the company’s strategic partnership with Banco de Chile.

Everest Re Group announced that David Harris has joined the company as senior vice president, chief reserving actuary.

Harris succeeds Ellen Edmonds and will report to Everest Group Chief Operating Officer and Head of Reinsurance Jim Williamson. In his new role, Harris will lead Everest’s global reserving strategy, aligning the company’s disciplined pricing, reserving and underwriting functions with its long-term objectives.

Harris brings over 25 years of experience leading global and domestic reserving and actuarial teams at top reinsurance and insurance companies. Most recently, he served as SVP and chief reserving actuary at SCOR Reinsurance Company, where he led the successful integration of the organization’s reserving, pricing and underwriting functions. Prior to that, he held various senior actuarial positions at ING Insurance Company and Zurich North America Canada.

Guy Carpenter has appointed Matt Petka as president of GC Access North America and branch manager of Guy Carpenter’s Dallas office, and Riley Underwood as head of Client Solutions for GC Access, effective immediately.

Petka brings over 22 years of broking experience to the role. He joined Guy Carpenter in 2021 as a managing director at GC Access, and prior to that was an executive vice president at Willis Re, focusing on MGA and program business.

Underwood joined the GC Access team in 2021 as a senior vice president, having previously worked for Willis Re.
