Executives On The Move at AIG, Zurich and CLARA Analytics

AIG hired a new Global Head of Strategy and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG). Zurich North America picked a new Head of Sustainability Underwriting. CLARA Analytics hired a new CFO.

Constance Hunter is joining American International Group as Executive Vice President, Global Head of Strategy & ESG in early 2022.

Hunter will report to Peter Zaffino, President & Chief Executive Officer, and will join AIG’s Executive Leadership Team.

Hunter joins AIG from KPMG, where she has served as Chief Economist since 2013 and as a member of the Growth and Strategy leadership team since 2020. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Chief Investment Officer at AXA Investment Managers, where she helped lead the management of over $500 billion in fixed income assets.

She is an expert in macroeconomic and industry analysis and is recognized for being among the first economists to forecast pivotal economic events, including the impacts of COVID-19 on U.S. and other global economies, the 2007 real estate and credit crisis and the 2001 burst of the Dotcom bubble.

Zurich North America named Mark Way as their new Head of Sustainability Underwriting.

Way reports to Chief Underwriting Officer Brandon Flick and will serve as a member of Zurich’s Technical Underwriting Leadership Team.

Way leads Zurich’s newly formed Office of Sustainability Underwriting, where he is joined by Technical Underwriting Climate Director David Edsey and Emerging Solutions Director Jonathan Charak.

He joins Zurich with more than 20 years of insurance industry experience and a distinct focus on sustainability for the past 15 years. His most recent position was with The Nature Conservancy in Arlington, Virginia, where he served as both Acting Global Climate Adaptation Director and Global Climate Risk & Resilience Director. Prior to that, he was with Swiss Re, where he worked closely with underwriting and the business units to create risk solutions to manage climate and natural catastrophes.

CLARA Analytics, maker of artificial intelligence technology for the commercial insurance industry, appointed Rick Rosenthal as Chief Financial Officer.

Rosenthal will report to CEO Heather Wilson, and oversee the company’s finance and accounting organizations, including its corporate development and investor relations functions.

Rosenthal brings nearly 20 years of experience in finance, strategy and business operations, with a track record of scaling and leading finance organizations at fast-growing technology companies. Before joining CLARA, Rosenthal was the Senior Vice President, Global Head of Finance at Flutterwave, where he played a key role in the company’s Series C fundraise. He also served as a Vice President of Finance at WeWork and at CLEAR, successfully building and leading high-performing strategic and operational finance teams.

He began his career as an investment banking analyst at Citigroup and as a senior equity analyst at Bear Stearns and Moore Capital.
