Two executives – veterans of Chubb and Appella – are joining Hamilton Insurance Group to take on leadership positions within its Lloyd’s operations. Chubb appointed one of its veteran executives as regional manager of its Accident and Health division in Canada.

Two executives – veterans of Chubb and Appella – are joining Hamilton Insurance Group to take on leadership positions within its Lloyd’s operations.

Trevor Ormes/Hamilton

The Bermuda-based specialty insurer said that Trevor Ormes is the new Deputy Active Underwriter of Syndicate 4000 and Head of Professional Lines, and Florence Mognetti is Head of Political Risk. Both are management slots within Hamilton Managing Agency Ltd.

Ormes and Mognetti will report to Miles Osorio, Active Underwriter of Lloyd’s Syndicate 4000. Both will be based in London, with Ormes due to join the Company later in the year and Mognetti to start on January 18, in accordance with notice periods.

Ormes brings 35 years’ industry experience to his new role. Previously, he spent 20 years with Chubb in London, most recently as Head of Financial Lines, having initially joined then ACE (now part of Chubb) as a PI Underwriter. Before Chubb, he spent two years as a PI Underwriter at Lloyd’s Syndicate SVB. Previously, Ormes spent 10 years at Aon in London in the Professional Services Group broking major professional service accounts.

Florence Mognetti/Hamilton

Mognetti comes to Hamilton with 24 years of political risk experience. Most recently, she spent six years with Acappella Syndicate 2014 where she was Divisional Head of Political Risk. Before this, she was Head of UK Market, Transactional Cover Unit with Euler Hermes, responsible for leading, managing and underwriting a political risk and credit portfolio with a worldwide remit. Previously, Mognetti spent 14 years at Coface, where she initially trained in Paris, before going on to be Political Risk Director, London and Paris, establishing a political risk and credit portfolio from inception.

Chubb appointed Colin Laird as regional manager of its Accident and Health division in Canada.

Laird will be responsible for developing and implementing a range of strategies related to profitable growth for the business, including sales and distribution, underwriting, and product development. He will based in Toronto and report to John Alfieri, President Chubb Canada, and Suresh Krishnan, COO North American A&H Division.

Laird has more than 17 years of experience in the insurance space. Previously at Chubb he served as Senior Vice President, Underwriting Center Manager and Executive Field Underwriting Manager. He began his career at Chubb in 2003 as a Commercial Underwriter, and throughout the course of his career has a held a number of underwriting leadership roles with increasing responsibilities.
