AXA XL named a former Marsh and MacLennan executive to lead its aviation insurance business in Canada. AmTrust International announced two key senior underwriting appointments to its Specialty Team.

AXA XL appointed former Marsh and MacLennan executive Alex Barker to lead its aviation insurance business in Canada.
Barker will report to Eric Donofrio, Chief Underwriting Officer, Aerospace, Americas and to Renato Rodrigues, Country Manager, Canada.
Barker joins AXA XL from Marsh and MacLennan where he served as Senior Vice President of the Aviation Business. He has previously worked at AXA XL, as a Senior Underwriter for the largest Lloyd’s syndicate and leading one of the top three global aviation portfolios. Barker is a certified General Insurance Agent and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

AmTrust International, the UK and International arm of New York-based insurer AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., announced two key senior underwriting appointments to its Specialty Team.
Dean Kiernan joins the Professional Indemnity Team as a senior underwriter, while Donna Stroulger joins as an underwriter in the Property Team.
Kiernan brings 30 years of technical, operational and sales experience covering all main classes of commercial insurance underwriting. He has specialized in underwriting Professional Indemnity insurance for 20 years having previously operated as lead underwriter, Professional Indemnity for RSA’s London Market & Global Risks team.
Most recently, he held the position of underwriting leader at RSA where he was responsible for the delivery of underwriting capability for the London Market and South Region Professional and Financial Risks Team. Kiernan will play an important part of AmTrust’s plans to maintain its growth in the professional indemnity market.
Stroulger brings over 30 years of experience of property underwriting in the London market, and will focus on growing AmTrust International’s commercial property lines of business on a delegated authority basis. She joins from MAPFRE where she served as senior property underwriter. Prior to this, Stroulger was vice president, Property Facultative, at XL Catlin.
