Reinsurance Rendez-Vous 2020 Canceled Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

April 24, 2020

The 64th Rendez-Vous de Septembre (RVS) in Monaco, which was scheduled to be held Sept. 12-17, has been cancelled due to the uncertainties linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

For 63 years, the RVS has brought together leading players in the global insurance, reinsurance and brokerage market along with a large number of lawyers, banking advisers and specialized journalists, said RVS organizers in a statement.

Nearly 3000 people attend the conference to discuss problems linked to the profession and to begin the annual negotiations that lead to renewal of insurance and reinsurance treaties, added the statement.

“Given the seriousness of the health crisis we are experiencing, the members of the RVS Association have unanimously decided to cancel the 2020 RVS,” commented Claude Tendil, president of the RVS.

The RVS has decided to make a donation of €100 000 (US$107,963) “to speed up scientific research in order to find a vaccine to combat Covid 19,” he added.

The next RVS meeting will be held from Sept. 11 to 16, 2021.
