Executives On The Move at Everest Insurance and AXIS

Everest Insurance made changes to its Commercial Casualty leadership team. AXIS Insurance appointed its first head of Strategy and Innovation for the company’s Global Cyber and Technology unit, effective immediately.

Everest Insurance announced changes to the Commercial Casualty leadership team. Four underwriters across the country have been appointed leaders for the Northeast, South, Midwest and Southwest regions.

• Frank Engle has been appointed vice president and regional leader for the South, overseeing Everest’s Commercial Casualty teams in Atlanta and Houston. Engle joined Everest Insurance in 2018 in the Atlanta office and over the past year-and-a-half has helped Everest further establish its presence in this important market.
• Marc Costa will be transferring from Everest’s New York office to Chicago as vice president and regional leader for the Midwest. Costa joined the company in 2017, where he has played an integral part in establishing the East Coast presence while building out an underwriting team. With the group’s largest underwriting team in Chicago, he will help continue the unit’s growth and expansion in the Midwest.
• Scott Weiss, vice president, has been promoted to regional leader for the Northeast. Weiss joined Everest in 2018 and will be focused on expanding the team in New York, along with deepening its underwriting presence in Philadelphia and Boston.
• Garrett Myklak has been promoted to assistant vice president and regional leader for the Southwest. Since joining Everest in 2017, Myklak has been building local relationships throughout the West Coast. He will lead the team in Los Angeles, supporting brokers across the region.

AXIS Capital Holdings’ AXIS Insurance appointed Max Perkins to the newly created role of head of Strategy and Innovation for the company’s Global Cyber and Technology unit, effective immediately.

Perkins is based in the United States and reports to Dan Trueman, global head of Cyber and Technology for AXIS Insurance.

In this new role, Perkins supports AXIS in maintaining a position as a thought leader in cyber and technology underwriting and risk transfer. He is also responsible for ensuring AXIS continues to develop innovative and effective ways of leading the understanding of cyber risk and cyber insurance. Perkins will support this in his role by providing a focal point and experienced insight for innovation opportunities and future product development. He will also help to develop resources to expand the delivery of the company’s award-winning cyber insurance training services.

Perkins has nearly 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, he was senior vice president at Lockton Companies, where he focused on risk transfer and placement strategy for a wide variety of clients in cyber, technology errors and omissions, media, and miscellaneous professional liability, as well as developing innovative non-physical damage business interruption and intangible risk insurance products. Perkins has also held a succession of roles at companies such as AIG, Beazley and Chubb.
