Everest Re Group hired a new executive for its Global Markets division. Sompo Global Risk Solutions appointed a senior executive who will be based in Mexico.

Everest Re Group, Ltd. hired Alex Poracchia as its International Chief Actuary and Chief Financial Officer of the organization’s Everest Global Markets division.
Before joining Everest, Poracchia spent nearly eight years at Deloitte UK as a partner within the firm’s Actuarial, Reward and Analytics practice predominantly supporting international clients’ Audits, M&A and finance transformation programmes. Previously, he spent ten years at Zurich Financial Services, where he was Chief Actuary and then CFO of the Global Corporate Division, among other roles. Poracchia held prior roles at Swiss Re and Bavarian Re. He has more than 22 years’ experience within the insurance and reinsurance market.

Sompo Global Risk Solutions appointed Ismael Lopez CEO of Sompo Mexico, and he’ll report to Lisa Davis, Executive Vice President of the division.
He succeeds Junji Hisano who has transitioned to a new role as Chief Client Officer.
Lopez is an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience in the non-life insurance sector focused on underwriting, reinsurance and corporate governance. He joined Sompo Seguros Mexico in 1997 as Technical Director, responsible for handling local, regional and global programs for Sompo in Mexico and across Latin America. His role has continued to expand, particularly following the enhancement of Sompo GRS’s capabilities in Mexico with the addition of a new team focused on serving clients in select industry verticals last year.
Hisano will continue to serve as a key member of the Sompo Mexico leadership team in his new role as Chief Client Officer, responsible for client relationships across Mexico and Latin America. Hisano has served as President and CEO of Sompo Mexico since 2016.
A Sompo International subsidiary, Sompo Seguros Mexico has traditionally focused on Asian domiciled clients with operations in Mexico. The company recently expanded on these capabilities to offer Mexico-based clients in the real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services and life sciences industries a full suite of products, including package, property, general liability, umbrella and environmental.
