Executives On The Move at QBE North America and Acadia Insurance

QBE North America recently appointed a new chief operating officer. W.R. Berkley’s Acadia Insurance brought on a former New Hampshire insurance commissioner as its chief underwriting officer.

QBE North America appointed Dan Moore as its new chief operating officer.

Moore will lead Claims, Technology and Operations and oversee communications and branding, with the goal of strengthening QBE’s performance and customer-centered approach for delivering integrated risk management products and services. Reporting to QBE North America CEO Todd Jones, Moore will also serve as a member of QBE’s North America Executive Committee.

He had been serving as the interim Chief Operating Officer since January 30 of this year.

Moore is a 20-year insurance industry veteran. Previously he had been serving as Head of Operations since August 2018 to oversee a variety of centralized functions including Operations Services, Technical Operations, Operational Reporting, Underwriting Support, and Program Operations. Moore joined QBE in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Claims Services.

Before QBE, Moore worked for over nine years at Fireman’s Fund/Allianz in a variety of senior leadership roles across Claims, Risk Services, and Operations. Before Fireman’s Fund/Allianz, Moore provided strategy, operational, and enterprise transformation consulting to a variety of industries at Braun Consulting and Grant Thornton.

W.R. Berkley’s Acadia Insurance hired John Elias earlier this year to join its Acadia Insurance management team as Senior Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer.

Most recently, Elias served as New Hampshire’s insurance commissioner where he led improvements in overall efficiency, speed to market of new products, advancements in technology and use of data. Prior to his regulatory role, Elias was Vice President of Underwriting for Safe Auto Insurance Company and Westfield Group.

Acadia Insurance is a regional underwriter offering commercial and specialty property casualty insurance coverages through independent insurance agents with local offices in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
