Executives On The Move at QBE North America, Marsh and AXA

QBE North America appointed a new chief legal officer. Marsh hired a former CoverHound executive to lead its cloud-based digital broker platform for the affinity market. AXA Equitable Holdings, Inc. named an insurance industry veteran as an independent member of its Board of Directors.

QBE North America appointed Mark Pasko as Chief Legal Officer.

The new position is a promotion. Previously, Pasko was Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Business Unit Support.

Pasko will report jointly to Todd Jones, QBE North America Chief Executive Officer, and Carolyn Scobie, Group General Counsel and Company Secretary. In his new role, Pasko will lead the North America legal department in support of the company’s business goals and its focus on enhanced performance. As a critical member of QBE North America’s Executive Committee, he will oversee corporate governance, litigation, compliance, regulatory relations, intellectual property, and labor and employment law, while anticipating and mitigating risks across the enterprise.

Pasko joined QBE in 2016 and is an experienced General Counsel with more than two decades of experience handling legal, regulatory, and compliance needs of property and casualty insurance companies.

He began his legal career at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, LLP as an Associate for the Insurance, Government Affairs, and Public Utility Practice Groups. In 2005, he joined American International Group, Inc. as Assistant Division Counsel, AIG Specialty Workers Compensation. For over a decade, he was consistently given increased responsibility throughout AIG, ultimately being promoted to Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel for its Global Energy, Excess Casualty and CAT Excess Liability Groups before joining QBE.

Marsh named Anita Sathe as Global Leader of Bluestream, its cloud-based digital broker platform for the affinity market, and Leader of its US Affinity business.

In this role, Sathe will focus on driving affinity and sponsored programs in the U.S. and accelerating the growth and development of the Bluestream platform globally. Sathe is based in Portland, Oregon and reports to Kevin Tobin, President of Marsh’s Insurance Services Group.

Sathe brings more than 15 years of insurance technology, digital distribution, product strategy, and insurance experience to the role. She joins Marsh from CoverHound where she most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer. Before that, Sathe held various senior roles at Deloitte Consulting and co-founded CyberPolicy, a digital platform that enables small businesses to digitally quote multiple cyber insurance options.

AXA Equitable Holdings, Inc. named Joan Lamm-Tennant as an independent member of its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2020.

This appointment follows the close of AXA S.A.’s secondary offering of shares of AXA Equitable Holdings common stock on November 13, 2019.

Lamm-Tennant brings significant industry and academic experience, having held global business leadership roles and a distinguished career as a professor of finance and economics. In particular, she brings an extensive background in senior risk roles, including designing and implementing enterprise-wide risk management and capital advisory strategies. Lamm-Tennant is currently the founder and CEO of Blue Marble Microinsurance, a purpose-driven InsurTech firm focused on providing innovative insurance products to global, underserved markets.

Lamm-Tennant previously worked at Marsh & McLennan and its subsidiary, Guy Carpenter, serving as Head of Enterprise Risk Management and Global Chief Economist and Risk Strategist. Prior to this, she held numerous leadership roles at General Reinsurance Corporation including President of General Re Capital Consultants.

In accordance with the Shareholder Agreement between AXA Equitable Holdings and AXA, GĂ©rald Harlin, AXA Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, has resigned from the AXA Equitable Holdings Board.
