Executives On The Move at AXIS Capital Holdings and Hamilton Re

A Chubb veteran is joining AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd. as its Group Chief Actuary. Hamilton Re promoted an executive to the role of senior vice president, Risk & Analytics.

AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd. hired Tony Jordan as its Group Chief Actuary.

In this role, Jordan will oversee AXIS’s corporate actuarial function including reserving functions, capital modeling and investment risk. This will include integrating the information, insights and analytics across these functional responsibilities to provide guidance to the AXIS business units. Jordan will also oversee the company’s Group Reserve Committee. He will report to Pete Vogt, Group Chief Financial Officer, and be based in the AXIS London office.

Jordan is a 30-year insurance/reinsurance industry veteran, particularly involving actuarial experience at Aon, Endurance, ACE and, most recently, Chubb, where he served as Chief Actuary, Europe, Eurasia and Africa.

Hamilton Re, the Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance platform for Hamilton Insurance Group, promoted Hanni Ali to the role of senior vice president, Risk & Analytics.

Ali joined Hamilton in July 2014, and leads the Risk & Analytics function at Hamilton Re. Overseeing a team of nine that includes catastrophe modelers and data scientists, he has responsibility for providing the portfolio reporting for Hamilton’s management, board, regulators, market bodies and rating agencies.

Ali also directs development of the Hamilton Risk & Analytics Platform (HARP), a proprietary, comprehensive reinsurance system used across Hamilton to provide high performance stochastic pricing and portfolio calculations.

Ali came to Hamilton Re after two years with Allied World Assurance Company where he was responsible for developing pricing and portfolio accumulation, reporting and analytics systems, and the pricing of inwards and outwards reinsurance contracts. Between 2008 and 2012, Ali worked for Montpelier Re where he was involved in the establishment of Montpelier’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 5151 and associated Managing Agent, supporting underwriting and risk management of binders, treaty, retro, direct and facultative business.

Before entering the reinsurance sector, Ali worked for four years in London’s financial services sector, developing equity, commodity and foreign exchange pricing models. He also ran his own startup, developing High Performance Computing (HPC) systems.
