Executives: Be straightforward and take ownership of the mistakes you make. Why does this matter? Those two traits are among important ones displayed by the most admired leaders, according to a recent posting at the Lolly Daskal leadership blog.
Daskal’s blog posting argues that admired leaders are straightforward, a quality that encourages confidence and shows an organization how to be consistent. Leaders that take ownership of their mistakes and failures are also highly admired, she said, because they own their decisions regardless of whether they are good or bad.
“Admired leaders hold themselves accountable above all,” according to the blog item. “They don’t blame anyone else or downplay the consequences of their failures and mistakes. Whatever the situations, they hold themselves to high standards.”
